On Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 12:00 noon, the First Phase (A1) of the Nicosia Ring Road was be opened to traffic. Phase A1 concerns a highway approximately 7.5 km long to connect the existing Nicosia – Limassol highway (A1) with Tseriou Avenue, as well as 10 km. connecting roads to restore connections with the existing road network. It includes an uneven interchange despite the Idalio Industrial Area for entering the Nicosia – Limassol highway in both directions, a bridge connecting the existing old Nicosia – Limassol road (B1) with the Nicosia – Limassol highway (A1), an uneven interchange despite the Tseri Industrial Area and level terminal roundabout at the junction with Tseriou/Pefkou Avenues.
From Friday 19/7/2024 and for a period of approximately 6 months, work will be carried out on the construction of a roundabout, on Akamandos Street in front of the Church of Panagia Zalakiotissa in Pegeia. During the execution of the works, the traffic to and from Peyia will be channeled through Raheros, Sarakkos and Koliakas streets, according to the on-site road markings. Only residents will be allowed to enter the intermediate work area. On the Limassol-Paphos highway, in the section from Erimi to the Bridge over Petra tou Romiou, in the period 28/5/2024 – 15/12/2024, except Fridays, weekends and holidays, between the hours 07:00 – 15:30 , plantation watering works will be carried out within the central island, by the Forestry Department. During the works, the right traffic lane will be partially closed in one direction of the road for a length of 200m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the left lane. On the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni and Larnaca-Kofinou motorways, in the period 17/06/2024 – 06/09/2024, Monday to Thursday except public holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30 pruning and removal of plants will be carried out in highway slopes, from the Forestry Department. During the works, on the highway from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelias roundabout (from both directions) and on the Larnaca - Kofinou Highway (from both directions), part of the highway shoulder will be closed, in sections over a length of 100 meters per time. Traffic will not be affected. Also on the Larnaca-Ammochosto highway, from Monday 26/08/2024 to Thursday 29/08/2024 every day between the hours of 08:30 – 16:00, irrigation works will be carried out on the central islet by the Department of Forestry. During the works, the tangential traffic lane of the central island in the direction of Ayia Napa will be partially closed on the highway from Rizoelias roundabout to Xylotympos for a length of 1.5 km. each time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. On the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni, Larnaca-Nicosia and Larnaca-Kofinou motorways, in the period 28/8/2024 – 12/9/2024, from Monday to Thursday, between the hours 09:00 – 15:00, works will be carried out of irrigation on the central islands of the highways, by the Department of Forests as follows: (a) in the period 28/8/2024 – 10/9/2024, on the Larnaca Airport – Paralimni motorway from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelia roundabout and on the Larnaca – Nicosia motorway, from the Rizoelia roundabout to the Nisos exit (b) in the period 2/9/2024 – 12/9/2024, on the Larnaca – Kofinou highway, starting at 400m. before the Kalos Chorio roundabout until the Kofinou exit Pentaschinos, with the exception of the area of Kornos. On Saturday 7/9/2024, between the hours of 04:00 in the morning - 12:00 in the afternoon, on the Nicosia - Akaki highway, on the central island in both directions. On Sunday 8/9/2024, between the hours of 04:00 in the morning – 12:00 in the afternoon, in the central island at Spyros Kyprianou and Griva Digeni Avenues in both directions. During the above works the public is asked to use the left lane. On the Nicosia-Larnaka highway, from Monday 09/02/2024 until Thursday 09/05/2024, between the hours of 09:00 - 15:00, on the Nicosia - Larnaca highway, from junction with the Nicosia - Limassol highway up to the Lymium interchange, watering works will be carried out for the plants of the central islands, by the Forestry Department. During the works, the tangential traffic lane of the central island will be partially closed, for a length of 1500m. about every time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In Lakatamia, works will be carried out on Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street, from Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue to Pefkou Street, from Friday 12/5/2023 and for a period of 20 months, in the framework of the improvement/construction of Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos and Department Avenues of Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street. At the same time, during the same period, as part of the reconstruction of Hippocrates Avenue, Themistokleous Street and Areos Avenue will be closed from their junction with Themistokleous Street to Nikias Street and Kentaurou Street respectively. In Larnaca, the Larnaca-Dekelia beach road, from the height of the Oroklini Fire Station to the Organized Oroklini Beach (Pavilion), will be closed to traffic in both directions from 03/7/2024 and for seven months, at framework of the construction works of the "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dekelia Coastal Road Phase C" Project. During the works, traffic will be diverted via Galaxia Street in Oroklini. Drivers are urged to use caution. Traffic from and to Meneo - Pervolion beach - Pervolion lighthouse will be routed through Nikos Belogiannis, Irini & Filias and Archbishop Makarios III streets.
Also, due to works on the road Menu - Pervolion beach (cypress road), which will be carried out from July 18, 2024 until September 12, 2024, the section of the road from the junction with Nikou Belogianni Street, to the point of the kiosk "To Perasma » is temporarily closed to traffic in both directions.
Traffic from and to Meneo - Pervolion beach - Pervolion lighthouse will be conducted via Nikos Belogiannis, Irini & Filias and Arch. Makariou 3 streets.
In the district of Limassol, on the road Episkopi-Mandria, in the period 26/08/2024 – 13/09/2024, construction works of retaining walls will be carried out, on a part of the road beyond the village
Sunny. During the above period, one of the two traffic lanes of the road will be closed for a length of 150m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, with alternating traffic management with temporary Traffic Lights.
In Paphos, from Monday 8/4/2024 until Tuesday 8/10/2024, roundabout construction works will be carried out at the intersection of Loforou Empas with Christou Kkelis and Dimitraki Adamou streets. During the works, the traffic on Empas Avenue will be controlled by temporary traffic lights.
On the old Pafos-Limassol road, in the period 13/5/2024 – 12/5/2025 (for 12 months), metro construction works will be carried out n stabilization of a section of the road, beyond Petra tou Romiou (near the KOT refreshment center in Petra tou Romiou). During the works the part of the road being reconstructed will not be available to traffic. There will be continuous and uninterrupted traffic movement on both sides of the construction site boundaries. Traffic on the old Paphos - Limassol road (B6) heading from Paphos to Limassol will be diverted from the Petra tou Romiou exit (after Aphrodite Hills on the left) and from Limassol / Pissouri to Paphos from the Pissouri exit on the Paphos highway – Limassol (A6).
Also, on the old Paphos-Limassol road, in the section past Petra tou Romiou, in the period between 17/06/2024 and 16/06/2025, road stabilization works will be carried out. In particular, the works will be carried out to stabilize the slope and the floor of the roadway, as part of the 2nd Phase of the works carried out on the road, after the large landslides that had occurred since 2019. During the period of the works, 17/06/ 2024 – 16/06/2025, part of the old Limassol-Paphos road, despite Petra tou Romiou, will be temporarily closed to traffic in both directions to Paphos and to Limassol. the temporary signalling will be the same as it was done in the 1st Phase of Works. In particular, the necessary signalling and information information will be placed on the parallel section of the Limassol-Paphos highway, as well as on the two cut-off sections on the old Limassol-Paphos road, despite the western exit of Pissouri-Petra tou Romiou and despite the Kouklion exit, for information of drivers intending to head towards Petra tou Romiou.
In the Vassilikos area, from Thursday, February 22, 2024, fencing works are being carried out at the Vassilikos Energy Center, which will last until February, 2025.
