Police are investigating a violent altercation that occurred outside a nightclub in the Pernera area of Paralimni, leaving a 17-year-old hospitalised.

Famagusta Police Spokesperson Steve Theodoulou has refuted claims of a vendetta between youths from Nicosia and Famagusta, stating that there are no other reported incidents of brawls involving young people from these areas.

However, investigations are ongoing to determine the exact causes of the altercation.

Three individuals, aged 17, 18, and 19, from Xylophagou and Paralimni, have been arrested in connection with the incident. Police believe at least three more people were involved in the attack on the 17-year-old.

The victim, who was taken to Famagusta General Hospital and later transferred to Nicosia Hospital for surgery, sustained a fractured mandible and ribs. He told police he was unaware of the motives behind the attack, claiming it was unprovoked.

Following the incident, reports emerged of a group of young people from Famagusta allegedly targeting individuals from Nicosia. A similar incident was reported to have occurred outside a bakery about a month ago. However, the police have not received any formal complaints regarding these alleged attacks.
