FIRE FIGHTING PLANES RETURN TO CYPRUS FROM NORTH MACEDONIA

At around 16:00, the two Air Tractor AT-802 firefighting planes of the Department of Forests, which had gone to North Macedonia and helped extinguish the fires burning the country's forests, arrived at Pafos airport, as CNA was informed by the Director of the Department of Forests, Savvas Ezekiel. 

The five-day mission to North Macedonia ended on Wednesday with the return of the mission to Cyprus, consisting of two Air Tractor AT-802s with four crew and five ground support personnel. 

Based on the information from the Director of the Department of Forests, the aircraft took off at 10:00 local time from North Macedonia to Rhodes, where they were refuelled, and around 16:00 they landed at Pafos airport. 

The aircraft had a crew of three. The rest of the members of the mission departed from Skopje by road to Thessaloniki and then by plane to Paphos. According to Ezekiel, they are expected to arrive in Paphos around 20:00. 

As Mr. Ezekiel earlier told CNA, in the context of the mission to North Macedonia, "we have had very good successes". He noted that the operational way of doing things was impressive as "we improved systems and helped the Republic of North Macedonia.
