The first ship has begun to return, and we are ready to send the second ship with humanitarian aid to Gaza, said President Nikos Christodoulides today, and reported that a decision has been made to establish a special fund from countries willing to contribute financially to the purchase of humanitarian aid.
In statements to journalists, at the Presidential Palace, and in response to a journalist’s observation that Cyprus is in the international spotlight due to its initiative for the “Amalthea” plan, the President of the Republic said, “I am pleased. It is an initiative of Cyprus, it is not my own initiative, it is an initiative of our homeland, and I am pleased that it receives this international recognition.”
“The first ship has begun to return, and we are ready to send the second ship. I am pleased with the international interest that exists; both the Minister of Foreign Affairs and I receive calls from many countries to further strengthen the aid.”
“As I mentioned yesterday evening, our goal is to provide as much humanitarian aid as possible, and within this framework, we are cooperating with several countries, beyond those that supported the Declaration, and beyond the fact that some of them will visit Cyprus to see this humanitarian aid mission for themselves.”
“A decision has been made to establish a special fund from countries willing to contribute financially to the purchase of humanitarian aid, and I am pleased that there is this international recognition and support, always for the benefit of our homeland.”
