Filenews 8 January 2024
From 15 to 19 January 2024, children will be enrolled for attendance at P.O.S., for the school year 2024-2025, in schools, which in the current school year 2023-2024, operate as Optional All-day Primary, Kindergartens and Special Schools.
According to an announcement by the Directorate of Primary Education of the Ministry of Education, the principals of these schools are requested to include the (updated) Statement of Interest of the Parent/Guardian for the enrolment of their child(ren) in the Optional All-Day School in the announcement they will send to the parents/guardians of the children, for the school year 2024-2025, YPAN DDE POS 01, which each parent/guardian, if interested, should complete and return to school, during registration, and no later than January 19, 2024. Please note that this form has been translated into five languages (English, Russian, Romanian, Bulgarian and Arabic) for the convenience of parents/guardians.
The attached statement emphasizes that the registration of each child in the afternoon zone of the school is optional. All children who will attend school in the coming school year 2024-2025 have the right to attend (for Primary and Special Schools children of all grades A-F, for Public Kindergartens children of all public classes, of all ages).
Please note that attendance will be compulsory for all five days of the week, either until 15:05 or until 16:00 and only one departure time of each child should be selected (15:05 or 16:00). It is emphasized that no derogations will be given either for part-time attendance at the P.O.S. or for early departure, due to any extracurricular activities.
Participation in the feeding program is mandatory and is implemented under the responsibility of the Parents/Guardians Association of each school, while the costs of feeding are borne by the parents/guardians of the children themselves.
The right to receive a subsidy for their meals has students whose parents/guardians receive a Guaranteed Minimum Income in the current year (a prerequisite is the presentation of the form "Family Unit Certificate", which is given by the Social Welfare Services). The same right has students whose parents/guardians during the current year received assistance from the Social Welfare Services, based on article 11 of the Guaranteed Minimum Income and Social Benefits Laws in general.
Children under the legal care of the Social Welfare Services (children's homes, foster families), as well as students whose parents/guardians are assessed as indigent, according to the school's Advisory Committee, have this right.
Part of the meals will be subsidized by a lump sum and the rest will be paid by the parents/guardians. It is emphasized that, for lunch, the transportation of food from home is prohibited, both because of the risk of spoilage, and for issues related to cultivating healthy attitudes and avoiding inequality.
In cases of children who have difficulties in adapting to the PIF program (either due to fatigue or other personal difficulties), their parents/guardians are invited to work closely with teachers in both the morning and afternoon zones to address these problems.
It is recalled that, in order for a PIF to continue to operate, it must fulfil the criterion of a minimum number of children. In Primary Schools up to 60 children at least 16 children have been enrolled, in Primary Schools with 61-120 children at least 24 children have been enrolled, in Primary Schools with 121 or more at least 36 children have been enrolled, in Kindergartens at least 11 children have been enrolled, while in Special Schools at least 11 children have been enrolled.
In which the number of children enrolled in January 2024 will not meet the above criterion, it will be examined whether they will continue to operate in the next school year 2024-2025.
It is noted that, upon completion of registrations, school principals will have until January 22, 2024 to fill in the requested information in the electronic link sent to their school's email. They are also kindly requested to collect in the WTO file all the applications of the parents/guardians and the data relating to the registrations for the P.O.S., which they will use when confirming the registrations.
