PAPHOS REGIONAL TOURISM - SMART SIGNS

The results of smart signs for 2023 are excellent. They have been scanned 345,000 times. The Society for Tourism Development and Promotion of the Region is particularly pleased to present Paphos with the results from its initiative for the digitization of information and replacing static, inadequate information signs with smart, user-friendly ones environment, distinctive and interactive signs.

As the Jan-Dec 2023 statistics now collected by QR CODES show, over 345,000 scans have been performed on 71 smart plates across the province.

The most popular signs were the signs inside the Tombs of the Kings, at Archaeological Park of Paphos, in the Monastery of Agios Neophytos, in Panagia Chrysopolitissa and other points of interest including points in the countryside.



The top five nationalities other than permanent residents of Cyprus who have scanned the plates are British, Polish, French, German and Italian nationalities consistent with the main markets attracted by Paphos as a destination in 2023.

As has been said before, the user/visitor to enjoy their experience of smart signs should first scan the QR code and then choose from his smart device, the language of his choice, and through his platform offers a wide range of information options from rich photographic material, video, 360 tour etc.

ETAP Paphos notes that although the year Paphos held the European title Capital of Smart Tourism has passed its efforts not only continue but are intensifying both in the field of Digitization, Accessibility, Sustainable development as well as in the upgrading of Cultural Heritage-Creative tourism.
