The scale of the phenomenon of burglaries and thefts in Pafos is still considered very serious, despite the significant intensification of police checks and patrols throughout the 24-hour period.
Information from "F" shows that the Police are currently preparing special plans to deal with the situation, in view of the increase in traffic due to holidays, since from the many arrests of recent times it has now become obvious that there is an organized plan by gangs and these are not isolated actions of some individuals.
This is confirmed, according to competent officials, by the existence of specific complaints of citizens about groups of people who were moving visibly suspiciously in neighbourhoods of Pafos and communities of the peri-urban area, while in the following days in these same areas there are indeed complaints of citizens about thefts from their homes.
Only in recent days, in various parts of the urban and suburban area, such as Tala, Emba and the northern exit of the Pafos Municipality, many incidents have been reported by residents and passing motorists about people moving suspiciously in specific neighbourhoods in groups of two or three, while nearby are parked vehicles with another person inside. apparently as a means of escape. There have even been reports from citizens that despite the fact that these individuals saw for themselves that some people were watching them, they nevertheless took risks by continuing to monitor residences or going back and forth on certain streets recording data.
According to our information, similar movements of suspects are often reported to the Police these days, with citizens now pressing for a more active and continuous presence of the force on the streets.
The Pafos Police Department has already developed a plan to deal with these actions, both by increasing the presence of patrols on the streets and by establishing static patrols. The phenomena of burglaries and thefts, however, continue as intensely, with the result that the staff of the Directorate is working on a new plan for the more effective intervention of the force during the Christmas period, when such anti-social actions are expected to increase.
