A coordinated and targeted operation to combat illegal stay on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus took place today in the Nicosia district, in which members of the Aliens and Immigration Service and the Subdirectorate for Green Line Surveillance and Migration Flow Response took part.
During the operation, 33 foreigners who were staying illegally in the Republic were identified and arrested, while procedures for their immediate repatriation were activated.
A total of 207 persons, staying illegally in Cyprus, were repatriated in the last week (03-10/12/2023), through forced and voluntary return procedures.
Since the beginning of the year, 9,075 people staying illegally in Cyprus have left the country through forced and voluntary return procedures.
The efforts of the Police and the Aliens and Immigration Service to maximize the number of returns continue.
