Normality is returning to Chloraka and the surrounding communities after the incidents of violence recorded last week.
The strong and daily presence of the police day and night in areas with many patrols and hundreds of vehicle checks have restored the sense of security of residents, locals and foreigners, but also sent a clear message that the state will no longer tolerate delinquent behaviour, wherever they come from.
There have been more than 25 arrests of Greek Cypriots and Syrians who appear to be involved in the incidents of last Sunday and Monday, August 27 and 28, while CCTV of shops in the area has obtained images of other persons who participated and are being sought.
