Burnt power lines were found at the spot where the big fire broke out on Sunday in Palaichori.
According to the director of the Department of Forests, Charalambos Alexandrou, it seems that the cause of the fire is related to cables that were illegally laid for the purpose of stealing electricity.
At the first light of day, teams of the electromechanical service, the Department of Forests, the Police, will carry out investigations in the area in order to determine the exact causes of the fire.
It is worth noting that houses and premises were threatened by the fire, while a forest area of about ten hectares was burned.
Firefighting forces remained in the area for any resurgences.

The fire that broke out around in an area of the community of Palaichori was brought under full control announced the Department of Forests of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.
The fire burned an area of 10 hectares covered with forest vegetation and threatened homes and premises.
As announced by the Department of Forests, 130 people of the Department of Forests with 20 fire trucks, 12 people of the Fire Service with 5 fire trucks, 3 vehicles of the Game and Fauna Service, 3 vehicles of the Civil Defense, 3 dozers and 3 tankers and volunteers attempted to extinguish the fire.
It is noted that Plan Icarus 2 concerning the operations of the aircraft has been implemented. A total of 7 aircraft, 1 aircraft of the Department of Forests, 2 leased aircraft of the Department of Forests, 2 leased helicopters and 1 police helicopter were attempted. The coordination of the aerial means was undertaken by a helicopter of the National Guard.
The Department of Forests said in a statement that firefighting forces would remain in the area to deal with possible resurgences, while the cause of the fire is being investigated.
