A quantity of almost forty kilos of drugs was found late in the afternoon in a field in the area of Chloraka. Police arrested two Greek Cypriots aged 34 and 27.
The former regularly engages the authorities with similar cases. Members of the YKAN who had obtained relevant information monitored the area.
One of the two arrested went to the area and tried to dig up the drugs, 27kg of cannabis and 12.5kg of cocaine, which were buried in the ground in nylon bags.
He was caught red-handed and shortly afterwards the second man was arrested. Both are expected to be arraigned tomorrow in Paphos court for detention orders.

Duty-free tobacco products were found and confiscated yesterday by members of the Limassol OPE during a search of a 58-year-old man's car in Limassol.
Specifically, around 9.20 a.m. Yesterday, members of the Police (OPE) stopped for inspection a car driven by the 58-year-old, in an area of Limassol.
During the search, 23 packets of manufactured tobacco and 100 boxes of cigarettes were found and seized inside the car, for which the legal duties had not been paid.
The tobacco products were handed over to a customs officer, while the case was settled out of court with the payment of the sum of €10,000 by the 58-year-old.
Examinations continue by Customs.

The Pafos Police arrested two persons in connection with an investigated case of burglary and theft, while two were stopped by residents who handed them over to the Police.
According to the Spokesperson of the Pafos Police Authority and Head of the Pafos ICF, Michalis Nicolaou, on July 30, information was given at the Stroumbi police station that two unknown men had entered an uninhabited residence in Letymbou and stole a boiler and two solar panels from it.
Nearby residents reportedly located and intercepted them, and then handed them over to the police. They are two persons, aged 24. The offences they face are conspiracy to commit a felony, residential burglary and theft from a dwelling.
Investigations into the case are ongoing.

Paphos Police arrested three people on Sunday in connection with a vehicle arson case. One of the three, as well as a 46-year-old woman, is also being investigated for vehicle theft and illegal possession of property.
According to the Spokesperson of the Pafos Police Authority and Head of the Pafos ICF, Michalis Nicolaou, on July 15, a green car was reported to the ICF of Limassol that a green car was stolen.
On July 30, at 12:30, a fire broke out in the car in question, which was located in a deserted area of Akoursos.
During police examinations, testimony was received that a car belonging to a 46-year-old permanent resident of Pafos had departed from the scene of the arson.
The mobilization of the members of the Pafos police department was immediate and around 17:00 on Sunday the car in question was spotted driving to Chloraka. He was then pursued by patrols.
During the chase, the driver manoeuvred and developed speed in his attempt to escape. He committed a number of offences and was eventually involved in a traffic accident with another private vehicle where he was immobilized.
It was found that the driver of the vehicle was a 37-year-old man and the passengers were two other persons, aged 26 and 30. The three persons were taken to the police and have been arrested on judicial arrest warrants as part of the investigation into the theft of the car in question, arson, conspiracy to commit a felony, as well as for traffic offences.
Furthermore, during the search of the said car, a presumption was found inside it, which is related to the theft of another car committed on July 24 in a village in the Paphos district. The above vehicle, the day after its theft, was found abandoned, and, after being examine, it was received by its owner.
Based on the evidence found in the vehicle, an arrest warrant was issued against the 46-year-old owner of the vehicle, who was arrested, as well as the 37-year-old driver who uses it with the owner's permission. A case of vehicle theft and illegal possession of property is being investigated against the two.
The examinations are continued by the ICF Pafos.

In the context of the implementation of an action plan of the Famagusta Police Directorate in the tourist areas of Protaras and Ayia Napa, aiming at more effective prevention and combating of crime and consolidating the sense of security and protection of citizens, coordinated operations were carried out from 28 to 31 July with the participation of members of the police stations of Paralimni, Ayia Napa and members of the OPE. ICF, Famagusta Traffic Police, Famagusta Traffic Police, Famagusta Police Department, as well as members of the M.M.A.D.
During the operations, 81 premises were inspected and 85 persons were inspected. Also, 260 traffic complaints were made, while 67 breathalyzer/narcotest tests were carried out, from which 8 complaints for driving under the influence of alcohol emerged.
In addition, during the same period, members of the Famagusta Traffic Police, in the context of preventing road collisions committed by four-wheeled motorcycles and buggys, conducted a campaign in the Ayia Napa area, which resulted in a total of 53 complaints, which among others concerned non-use of protective helmet, traffic sign violations, illegal overtaking, non-use of a protective belt, overcrowding, etc.
In the context of police checks to combat illegal employment and employment as well as illegal stay, the members of the Police proceeded to a total of 4 arrests of third-country nationals, who were found to be staying illegally in the territory of the Republic, while two foreign asylum seekers who were working without the relevant permit were also arrested. Their Greek Cypriot employers were charged in writing to be summoned to court later.
On 28/7/23 at 0220, members of the Famagusta Police Authority and the MMAD, following information about drug trafficking, proceeded to the arrest of 2 third-country nationals for a case of illegal possession and illegal possession for the purpose of supplying a controlled drug class A and B.
Specifically, 63 sachets containing a quantity of dry plant matter-cannabis with a total weight of 31 grams, 20 sachets containing white powder-cocaine with a total weight of 4 grams and 2 ecstasy pills were found. Against the two arrested, a detention order was obtained by the Famagusta YKAN for a period of 5 days.
Finally, in the context of dealing with and combating noise pollution from recreation centers, as well as the operation of entertainment centers without the required licenses as provided by the Entertainment Centers Law 29/85, members of the Famagusta OPE and the Paralimni Police Station conducted a total of 16 complaints of nightclubs of which 5 concerned complaints for violation of the Law on Entertainment Centers (Sound Emission Licenses) Law 50(i)/2016, 5 without a license from the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, 5 without a license for alcoholic beverages, and 1 complaint for practicing the profession of a private guard without a license. The coordinated operations of the Famagusta Police Department will continue throughout the tourist season.

The case in Larnaka was described as very serious, with the publication of videos and photos on pornographic websites, Christos Andreou, spokesman of the Police. Some of them are real while others are a product of photomontage. A 40-year-old man was arrested in the case and brought on Saturday before the Larnaca District Court, which issued a detention order against him for eight days.
In his statements, Mr. Andreou said that "this case is very serious. Specifically, on June 28, a woman reported the suspect, aged 40, to the police for committing specific offenses and the investigation of the case immediately began."
He added that "a second complaint against the suspect by a specific woman followed, and then similar complaints were made to the police by 10 other women. After securing testimony, the 40-year-old was arrested and on Saturday 29 July he was brought before the Larnaca District Court which issued a detention order against him for eight days."
Replying to a question, Mr. Andreou said that "offences concerning the dissemination of pornographic or sexual material are being investigated against the suspect" while they also concern the legislation "on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the protection of nature and on the free movement of data".
Initial complaints against the suspect were made by his ex-girlfriend and current wife and then complaints were made to the police by the other ten girls, who come from the 40-year-old's friends.
According to the same information, the suspect allegedly posted sexual encounters with his ex- and current wife on a pornographic website.
The 40-year-old also allegedly placed photos of the heads of 10 other women on foreign naked bodies and uploaded them to a pornographic website.
