A drunk driver injured two tourists with his vehicle early on Tuesday morning in Paralimni.
The driver was more than three times over the legal alcohol limit. Instead of being 22µg it was 99µg.
The two tourists, aged 20, were both treated in hospitals. The man was transferred to Nicosia general hospital where he was intubated, while the woman was treated at Paralimni general hospital and released.
The driver was arrested and detained while investigations continue.

Police arrested a 33-year-old man who was driving on the Nicosia-Limassol motorway at a speed of 202 km.
According to information from the Police, the 33-year-old was driving at a speed of 202 kilometers on the Limassol-Nicosia highway, at Tseri height, around 3.20 in the morning.
He was stopped and arrested by members of the Road Accident Prevention Unit of the Traffic Headquarters

A Bulgarian woman who lives permanently in Paphos complained to the police that on two occasions recently a friend of hers, of Arab origin, kidnapped her and kept her locked up.
In the latter case, according to her claim, he also stole her mobile phone. An arrest warrant has been issued against the Arab.

Police arrested a 60-year-old man yesterday as part of an investigation into an online fraud case committed in 2019 in Limassol.
The 60-year-old, who was arrested in Spain under an outstanding European Arrest Warrant against him, was extradited to Cyprus yesterday, arrested and detained to facilitate interrogations.
According to the complaint made by a legal advisor of a company in Limassol, in May 2019, this company, in the context of its operations, had proceeded to purchase products from a Spanish company. After communicating with the supplier company via email, it was agreed that his company would proceed with the payment of €93,187 to a specific bank account.
However, in a new communication with the supplier company, it was found that this company never received the money and it was a scam after an email was intercepted.

The 33-year-old Iraqi man who was convicted in two very serious criminal cases has been in Central Prison since yesterday morning.
The convict, as it is known, received special treatment following an agreement by the Legal Service, in order to admit and be deported, but in the end he returned to Cyprus after a year, violating the terms of his deportation.
The 33-year-old was arrested last week by the Limassol YKAN as a court arrest warrant was pending against him in a case of methamphetamine weighing 2kg.
Last Friday he was brought before the Limassol Court which ordered his detention for a period of four days.

The Assize Court in Larnaca today imposed a seven-year prison sentence on a 47-year-old man after finding him guilty in a drug case.
The 47-year-old had presented himself on 17/05/2023 as the recipient of a parcel, to a courier company in Larnaca, which contained eight nylon packages with a quantity of cannabis plant matter weighing a total of 8 kg and 359 grams.
