SMILES IN PAPHOS FOR THE TOURIST SEASON

Filenews 19 June 2023 - by Dora Christodoulou

Images that smell of summer on a daily basis now in the coastal area of Kato Paphos.

At the pier and the harbour of the city, thousands of foreign visitors flood beaches, pedestrian streets, recreation centers and open areas of recreation and rest on an all-day basis, giving an image that the place and the economy needed after the three years of the pandemic and its consequences.

A walk yesterday on the coastal front is indicative that the city of Aphrodite is already working at full speed in terms of its tourism industry. All hotel units, according to PASYXE Paphos, have been in operation since last month, the leisure centres on the coastal Poseidonos Avenue, the land area of the port and the other roads of the area are flooded with tourists and air traffic at Paphos International Airport is approaching new traffic records in 2023.

The pedestrianized coastal avenue turns into a festival of joy, with visitors enjoying their walk by the sea, sitting on benches gazing at the endless blue, taking pictures next to the logos of the Smart Capital of Tourism of the European Union 2023 that have been placed everywhere and filling the restaurants and cafes that are experiencing good days again.

Having been fortunate enough to be the number one destination of the British in Cyprus, at a time when the British have fully returned to their holiday program, Paphos is enjoying a summer of mass arrivals again this year.

PASYXE Pafos officials express their full satisfaction with today's data, pointing out, at the same time, that the occupancy of the Pafos units has been satisfactory since June and estimating that by the end of June they will exceed the 80% threshold for the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Supporting the expected impressive number of visitors to Paphos this summer is the contribution of the domestic tourist flow. The Pancyprian campaign of the Pafos Tourism Board for the promotion of the province in cooperation and with the support of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, established in recent years, has been a steady success in terms of receiving its messages and the interaction of the public with the messages.

According to ETAP's President, Kyriakos Droussiotis, the campaign had the immediate aim of strengthening the actions taken to make the Pafos district one of the first preferences of the residents of Cyprus for domestic tourism, a fact that has been achieved to the absolute extent as shown by the occupancy of its hotel units during periods such as Easter and Kataklysmos.

Visitors, in addition to the very attractive holiday packages for all categories of tourist accommodation, have the opportunity to enjoy unadulterated natural beauty in communities, tour priceless archaeological sites of interest, go to wine-producing communities, etc.
