The American University of Beirut marks its presence in Cyprus, inaugurating its new campus in Paphos for the next academic year 2023-2024 under the name American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo, with a series of leading and timely educational and informative activities in which academics and graduates from all over the world participate.
This first activity of AUB takes place within the framework of the international Executive Master of Business Administration Program of Suliman S. Olayan School of Business and will last 6 days. Within the framework of the Program, Professors and graduates of the University from all over the world will be hosted at AUB – Mediterraneo, Paphos. The Program starts today, Monday, May 8, at the Pafos Innovation Center, where AUB – Mediterraneo is temporarily housed until the completion of its own state-of-the-art campus in the former "Carob Mills" building complex.
Analogous Programs of AUB have been held in collaboration with other leading universities in the world, such as Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley, IESE, Trinity Business School and others, in various cities such as Dublin, Ireland, Barcelona and Madrid, Spain. In the framework of the meeting in Paphos this week, three (3) sessions of the series "Conversations with executives" will take place, scheduled for Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
The meetings will be attended and addressed by former and current government officials of Cyprus, as well as officials of institutions and organizations. Together with his Professors AUB will participate in discussions on topics such as promoting innovation and research in digital technologies, establishing research collaborations between the public and private sectors, developing innovation hubs, cybersecurity, and issues related to the protection of digital systems and data privacy.
Topics related to the promotion of portals to access government services, e-voting and digital identity management, human resources, training programs for technology workers and digital skills initiatives to promote digital literacy in all sectors of the economy will also be on the agenda. The meeting on Tuesday 9 May will be attended on the Cypriot side by Mr. Antonis Antoniades, Director of the Office of the Commissioner for Electronic Communications and Postal Regulation and Mr. Kyriakos Kokkinos, former Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy.
On Thursday, May 11, Mr. Andreas Pisias, General Manager of International Businesses Association, Mr. Andreas Yiasemides, President of the Cyprus Investment Funds Association, Mr. Marinos Stylianou, Director of the Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Mr. George Campanellas, former CEO of Cyprus Invest.
On Friday, May 12, the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Mr. Filippos Hadjizacharias, will participate.
Completing the week, the AUB, acting in the context of its broad contribution to the society in which it operates, will offer free of charge on Saturday, May 13 at 14:00, at Pafos Innovation Center, a special Masterclass, open to the business community, entitled "Digital Future of Business: A Masterclass for Business Executives".
This particular Masterclass, designed, developed and delivered by OSB ExEd, will reveal the transformative power of digital innovation and how to seamlessly integrate it into a functional business. Upon completion of the Masterclass, participants will receive a Certificate from the American University of Beirut, OSB ExEd.
