Police arrested a 22-year-old man today as part of an investigation into a case involving illegal possession and storage of explosives.
Specifically, around 7.45 p.m. on 13/04/2023, information was received by the Police about a vehicle, whose driver stopped in an open area in Limassol and pulled down bags which he placed under a tree.
Members of the Police went to the scene, where they found four bags, which contained more than 2,000 firecrackers, nine torches and 15 pieces of wick.
Further examinations revealed that the driver of the vehicle was a 22-year-old man, who was arrested today on a court warrant and taken into custody to facilitate interrogations.
The ICF Limassol is investigating the case.

Two persons aged 30 and 52, residents of Nicosia, were arrested yesterday on the basis of court warrants and detained to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of conspiracy to commit a felony and burglary of a building and theft.
Their arrest was preceded by a complaint on 13/4/2023 by two persons, residents of Nicosia, that unknown persons broke into an uninhabited house used by them as a warehouse and stole various items such as antique watches, jewellery, boxes with various tools, sealed bottles containing alcoholic beverages and more.
During the investigation of the case, testimony emerged against the above arrested persons where in a search conducted at the 30-year-old's home, various documents were found which were received for further examination. In a search of the 52-year-old's home, various items were found which the two complainants identified as the stolen property.
The two arrested were brought this morning before the Nicosia District Court, which ordered their six-day detention.
The ICF Nicosia continues the examinations.
