 A three-day detention order was issued by the Paphos District Court against a person in a case of theft of various items from a supermarket in four different cases. This is a resident of Paphos who was spotted on Saturday by a supermarket security guard stealing a bottle of champagne.

The supermarket officials called the Police, but then checking the CCTV that the company has, they discovered that the same person committed a total of four thefts of various items from its shelves. Specifically, during the Christmas period, he obtained a tablet and three perfumes worth €160, just before the New Year another tablet worth €120 and on a third occasion he was found stealing a perfume worth €22.

The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. He was then brought before the Paphos District Court, which issued a three-day detention order against him.

The dog of a 30-year-old resident of Paphos began barking and attacking the dog of a 53-year-old, when they crossed paths on a Paphos road. The 53-year-old, of Greek origin, was annoyed by the other animal's attack on his own and retrieved a knife, injuring the 30-year-old's dog.

The unprecedented action was reported yesterday to the Paphos Police by the 30-year-old, resulting in the arrest of the 53-year-old and the indictment of him.

The owner of the dog that was stabbed by the 53-year-old, transported the animal to a veterinary clinic in Paphos where the unfortunate animal was treated.

Police examinations continue.

The arrest of a 48-year-old man was carried out last night by members of the Police, in connection with an ongoing case of fighting, injury, stabbing, illegal entry into property, and conspiracy to commit a felony. Three other persons, men aged 49, 26, and 52, were arrested in the same case and are in three-day detention under court orders, issued yesterday by the Nicosia District Court, for the purpose of investigating the case.

The 48-year-old suspect, due to a back injury suffered after allegedly being attacked last Sunday, February 26, is still being treated at Nicosia General Hospital, where he was arrested pursuant to a court warrant for the purpose of investigating the case and is under police guard. His state of health according to the attending physicians is out of danger.

According to the evidence under investigation, the offences were allegedly committed at the residence of the 52-year-old, in the Nicosia district, where shortly before 16:00 last Sunday afternoon, the 49-year-old and 26-year-old allegedly had gone. The 48-year-old relative of the 52-year-old was also allegedly at the residence.

The Pera Chorio Police Station is investigating the case.

A Greek resident permanently in a village in Paphos caused the death of a Pit Bull breed dog. The dog was stabbed as it was claimed the dog attacked their dog.

Reacting completely unceremoniously and brutally a 53-year-old Greek man in order to protect his own dog, stabbed a dog belonging to a neighbour which was wandering outside his residence.

The dog was initially taken to a veterinary clinic but eventually died. The Greek was charged in writing and released. He faces charges of animal mistreatment and stabbing.

Charges will also be brought against the 30-year-old Greek Cypriot owner of the dead animal for keeping a dog of a prohibited breed, for not being registered and for not supervising the animal.

The Paphos Police arrested two persons in a case of illegal possession of property and stabbing.

According to the spokesperson of the Paphos ADE and head of the Paphos ICF, Michalis Nikolaou, on February 26, shortly after midnight, members of the Paphos Traffic Police stopped a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old permanent resident of Cyprus and with a 17-year-old passenger on Tombs of the Kings Avenue.

The driver tested positive for a drug test he underwent while in possession of an eight-centimetre blade. The passenger was in possession of four prohibited type knives and two watches.

The above persons were arrested for stabbing, as well as for illegal possession of property. They were subsequently charged in writing and released with a view to being summoned later.
