1,516 NEW CASES, FOUR DEATHS to w/e 16 February

Four coronavirus patients have died in the last week in Cyprus. According to an announcement by the Ministry of Health, 1,516 new cases were detected from February 10 - 16 with the positivity rate rising to 2.34%.

  • 4 deaths announced
They concern:
  • Man, aged 90, who passed away on 07/02/2023
  • Woman, aged 77, who passed away on 12/02/2023
  • Woman, aged 98, who passed away on 14/02/2023
  • Man, aged 86, who passed away on 15/02/2023
  • Total number of deaths with COVID-19 as the ultimate cause: 1,297.
  • 48 COVID-19 patients are being treated in shsypy hospitals
  • 11 in serious condition (ICU: 0 off ventilator/6 intubated, MAF: 5)

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 64,876 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 1,516 new cases were detected (total cases 647,031).
  • Positivity rate in all tests 2,34%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 1,602 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 79 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 4.93%

Total number of rapid antigen tests:

  • 63,274 rapid antigen tests performed
  • There were 1,437 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 2.27%

Private initiative:

  • 1,222 molecular tests were performed, 38 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 3.11%)
  • 40,463 rapid antigen tests were performed, 1,290 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 3.19%)

Through the programs of the Ministry of Health, 22,811 rapid antigen tests were performed. 147 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 16,170 rapid tests, 93 positive cases identified (positivity rate 0.58%)

Education

  • Primary Education: 196 rapid antigen tests, positive case detected (positivity rate 0.51%)
  • Secondary Education: 146 rapid tests, no positive cases detected (positivity rate 0%)
  • Special Schools: 231 rapid antigen tests were performed, positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.87%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 4,610 rapid antigen tests were performed, 47 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.02%)
  • Closed facilities: 1,458 rapid antigen tests were performed, new cases were identified (positivity rate 0.27%).
