In March, the first phase of Tax For All (TFA), which is a Unified Management System of the Tax Department, is expected to be implemented. TAX For All is expected to make everyone's life easier, as all procedures concerning the Tax Department will be done electronically.
Through the TFA, taxpayers will maintain a tax profile and be informed of their tax debts, will be able to pay taxes, issue certificates and submit requests for tax refunds and appeals. The new system will be implemented in three phases and will replace all existing systems and electronic applications currently in operation.
The new system will gradually replace the taxisnet. The first phase of the system affects only those persons who are registered with the Tax Department for VAT purposes. Therefore, with the operation of Tax For All, in about a month and a half, VAT returns instead of being submitted via Taxisnet will be submitted through TFA.
Electronically, through the new system, the special VAT schemes for urban taxis and for farmers will be submitted, as they have so far submitted VAT returns in the traditional paper version. Already taxi drivers and farmers have been informed through letters about the electronic submission of VAT returns and the changes that follow.
A number of operations will be affected
The operation of the first phase of the TFA will affect a number of functions, such as vat registration, declarations, attestations, payments, reportıng, tax refunds and the issuance of various certificates. The relevant department informed the affected persons via email, giving a description of the new system. He also invited them to update their email, as its correctness is a necessary element for the transfer of the taxpayers' account from the taxisnet system to the new computer system.
The Superintendent of Taxation Sotiris Markides, speaking to "F", said that the operation of the TFA will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Tax Department, while it will also contribute to the increase of the state's tax revenues. According to Mr. Markides, the benefit for taxpayers will also be great, as they will be better served and will have immediate and easy information about tax debts as well as to find better and faster compliance methods.
The second phase of the project, which will involve indirect taxation, will be operational later. It will concern corporate tax, income tax, income tax withheld on earnings, GHS withholding and special defence contribution. It will also concern capital gains tax, property tax, special taxes, temporary taxation of insurance companies and inheritance tax. The third phase, for betting and casino tax, special tax on credit institutions and stamp duties, will be implemented last. Already the staff of the Department has undergone special training.
