Filenews 14 October 2022 - by Dora Christodoulou

An image of a construction site with an academic horizon prevails in recent days in Paphos. Among the projects for the nine major urban projects that are in full swing in the city, two additional construction sites have now begun at full pace, this time with the aim of implementing the academic orientation of the city of Aphrodite.

After the historic Carob Mills of Paphos, on Apostolou Pavlou Avenue and the CUT acquires its own roof in Paphos, with the works in the area of Panagia Pantanassa having progressed to a great extent. The works for the creation of the CUT facilities that will host the schools related to tourism are carried out as it is known in the unfinished project that began before the financial collapse of 2013 with the aim of hosting the new Paphos Municipal Hall and which has remained abandoned ever since. Today, the work has come a long way and the picture in the area is impressive, after the iron structures that have "risen" into the sky.

The aim of the municipal authority and the CUT is for the project to be completed within months with the aim of the CUT schools in Paphos to operate normally with the new academic season.

At the same time, the works for the conversion of the Carob Mills building complex into an academic space continue at a rapid pace, in order to immediately take the final form based on the procedures initiated by the municipal authority in order to host the American University of Beirut from the new year.

The procedures have been initiated in the last one year at a very fast pace, following the implementation of President Anastasiades' commitment that the Government will grant the historic site for Paphos so that it can be used accordingly by the municipal authority and now this university will be another academic dormitory in the city from 2023, after Neapolis University, the School of Tourism Professions of CUT and the Pafos Innovation Institute.

Both construction sites were visited by the Mayor of Paphos, Phaedon Phaedonos, who expressed his absolute satisfaction for the works for the creation of the new academic infrastructure of the city and stressed their importance for the future change of the status of Pafos in areas such as academic and economic.
