An earthquake of 4.9 on the Richter Scale occurred this early morning in Cyprus.
According to the official announcement issued by the Geological Survey Department of Cyprus, the earthquake was centred on the sea area of Xylofagou, 20 km of Paralimni and a focal depth of 45 km.
The earthquake was felt throughout Cyprus, especially in the epicentre area and in the districts of Larnaca and Famagusta.

The Geological Survey Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that on Friday, June 10, 2022, at 04:40 local time, an earthquake of magnitude M = 4.9 on the Richter scale was recorded by the seismological network of the Department.
The earthquake had an epicentre in the sea area of Xylofagou, 20 km southwest of Paralimni and a focal depth of 45 km. The earthquake was felt throughout Cyprus, particularly in the epicentre area and in the districts of Larnaka and Famagusta. It was also noticed in Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Turkey.
