TRANSPORT - COVID MEASURES ON PUBLIC AND PRIVATE TRANSPORT

The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, based on Regulation 8 (1) of the Infectious Diseases (Determination of Measures to Prevent the Spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus) Decree (No. 20) of 2022 (P.I. 186/2022), issues the following guidelines:

1. Public Passenger Transport

The maximum number of passengers that can be carried by public transport – public transport (frequent flyer buses with fare per passenger, Buses with E license, buses used for closed bus door services to and from airports (shuttle), taxis), as well as private buses, holding a road use license, in all districts of Cyprus, is determined as the licensed capacity of each vehicle, i.e. up to 100% of the vehicle's capacity, subject to the provisions of paragraphs 3 and 4.

 2. Private Passenger Transport

Private vehicles can be occupied by people from different households, depending on the capacity of the vehicle, with the need to wear a mask.

3. Additional instructions for Public Passenger Transport by bus

3.1. All necessary measures shall be taken to avoid overcrowding during embarkation and disembarkation.

3.2. Buses must be cleaned at regular intervals. Cleaning on all buses should be done with special care, especially on frequently touched surfaces such as handles, handles, metal surfaces, seat belts, rails, etc., using disinfectants and materials recommended by the Ministry of Health.

4. Use of a Protective Mask

The use of a protective face mask by employees of public passenger transport and persons aged 12 years and over who are on board all Regular Passenger Transport Buses at a fare per passenger, as well as in all means of public transport (taxis, tourist buses, shuttle services), continues to be mandatory in all provinces.

5. The above measures shall apply from their publication on the official page of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works.

What Schools and Driver Trainers Need to Know

Every Driving School that provides training services to prospective drivers and every driver trainer as well as the driver examiners, should apply the following:

  1. The use of a protective mask is mandatory for all occupants of the vehicle.
  2. The hands, handles, metal surfaces, seats, seats, seat belts, etc. of the vehicle must be cleaned at least once a day.
  3. It is recommended to have a liquid hand sanitizer inside each vehicle for use by the teacher/examinee and the trainer/examiner.
  4. Air-conditioning/heating systems may be used on condition that fresh air is introduced into the vehicle and that the recycled air function is not used.
  5. The windows of the vehicle shall remain open during the journey, if possible.
  6. The maximum number of persons who may be on board the vehicle is three, including the trainer and the trainee.
