Following an assessment of information that a large number of dogs are in a squalid condition in a specific house in Limassol, members of the Police conducted a search, pursuant to a court warrant, in that house, owned by a 48-year-old man.
Specifically, around 9 a.m. today, members of the Limassol Police Unit for animals and the Germasogeia Police Station, along with officers of the Limassol district veterinary clinic, went to the 48-year-old's home.
When the 48-year-old was informed that there was an arrest warrant against him, as well as a search warrant for his home, he tried to prevent the search by shouting and insulting the police officers and officers of the veterinary clinic.
The 48-year-old was subsequently arrested and taken into custody, while the search that followed at his home, identified and received by the officers of the vet clinic, 27 dogs, mostly small, after it was found that their living conditions were not appropriate, in violation of the protection and welfare of animals law.
Subsequently, the 48-year-old, after being charged in writing, was released and later summoned.
The examinations are continued by the Police for the animals.
