CHARITY CONCERT FOR THE QUEEN'S PLATINUM JUBILEE -NOW HAPPY VALLEY, EPISKOPI - 2 JUNE

 Filenews 11 April 2022

A charity concert for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee will be held at the ancient Kourion Amphitheatre on June 2.  VENUE CHANGED TO HAPPY VALLEY, EPISKOPI

According to the announcement of the British Bases, this historic event will celebrate the platinum jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, her service to our nation for over 70 years and her close support to the Armed Forces. The concert will also celebrate the friendship and cooperation between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Cyprus, a member of the Commonwealth.

Against the backdrop of the beautiful scenery of Kourion, all the money collected from the event will be donated to two Cypriot children's cancer charities, ''The Little Heroes'' and ''One Dream, One Wish'' and to a British charity that supports military families, the SSAFA.

With a mix of British and Cypriot performers, the event will not only be an unforgettable musical occasion but also an opportunity to mark the collaboration with Cyprus and raise money for some very remarkable purposes.

The concert will be the well-known choir and dance group of the Cultural Association "Diastasis" and the excellent Cypriot soprano, Aliki Chrysochou and Maria Papaioannou.

We will give a military flavour to the event with our band ''Royal Signals'' and our Choir ''Military Wives''. The concert will also include a flame lighting ceremony to mark the Queen's 70 years of service.

The Commander of the British Forces of Cyprus, Major General Rob Thomson, said the concert will be an act of celebration and a spectacular concert.

He said: "Of course this concert will be held to mark 70 years of Her Majesty's amazing service in the UK and the Commonwealth, but I also feel it is an excellent opportunity to celebrate our close friendship and cooperation with Cyprus and the Cypriots.

"It is of course also a great opportunity to raise money for great purposes. For us, the Administration, it is vital to be able to support Cypriot charities that work so hard to care for children in need."

Tickets for the event will be released on 19 April and will cost €15. For online purchase, visit: https://Shop.tickethour.com
