TROODOS ROAD SITUATION & WEATHER FORECAST

 Filenews 24 March 2022

Due to snowfall observed intermittently and frost, the roads Platres-Troodos, Karvounas-Troodos and Prodromos - Troodos are closed to ALL vehicles.

Also due to frost, which has formed in several parts of the road network, the following roads are open only for vehicles equipped with anti-skid chains or with drive on all four wheels:

Karvouna – Kyperounta

Kyperounta – Chandria

Pedoulas – Prodromos

Pedoulas – PINEWOOD – Kakopetrias

Prodromou – Lemythou

Kakopetrias – Karvouna

Also, the roads of Palaichori – Agros and Palaichori – Agios Theodoros are open but slippery.

It is noted that due to the frost the roads on the wider road network in the higher mountains are slippery.

In the rest of the road network, there is no particular problem affecting traffic. It is recalled, however, that on the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, despite the Tseri exit, work continues on the construction of the Nicosia perimeter motorway. Therefore, traffic on the motorway in the direction from Limassol to Nicosia and from Nicosia to Limassol, is carried out in 2 lanes per direction. The traffic from the exit of the industrial Idalion to the Tseri bypass is unhindered, while the traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia via the motorway is closed. The traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia is carried out through the old Nicosia – Limassol road.

For other areas where work is being carried out, which may affect the smooth passage of traffic, you can be informed HERE. [in Greek]

The Police recommend caution to those who will be moving on the road network, who are required to comply with the highway code and comply with traffic signals, to avoid road accidents.

It should be noted that the situation on the road network is changing. The public is urged, before its movements, to be informed about the situation on the road network, through police announcements, as published on the informational website www.cypruspolicenews.com, in the road network category, in the Police's social media accounts on Twitter and Facebook, as well as in the application – application – "Cyprus Police".
