4,704 NEW CASES, FOUR DEATHS - Wednesday 23 March

The Ministry of Health announces that today, March 23, 2022:

  • 4 deaths reported
  • They concern:
  • Man, aged 70, who died on March 23, 2022
  • Woman, aged 72, who died on March 23, 2022
  • Woman, aged 89, who died on March 21, 2022
  • Woman, aged 86, who died on March 20, 2022

Total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19: 922.

  • 153 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • 23 in serious condition (ICU: 0 out of breath/7 intubated, PPE: 16)
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 52.32%
  • 21 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 83,366 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 4,704 new cases were identified (total cases 392,019).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 5.64%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 4,193 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 467 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 11.14%

Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):

  • 79,173 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 4,237 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 5.35%

 Tracking:

  • 592 molecular tests were performed and 95 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 16.05%)
  • 904 rapid antigen tests were performed and 111 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 12.28%)

Private initiative:

  • 1,641 molecular tests were performed, 319 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 19.44%)
  • 35,005 rapid antigen tests were performed, 2,510 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 7.17%)

Through the health ministry's programmes, 44,168 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 1,727 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 21,720 rapid detection tests identified 1,372 positive cases (positivity rate 6.32%)

Education

  • Secondary Education: 10,149 rapid screening tests identified 97 positive cases (positivity rate 0.96%)
  • Test-to-Stay: 7,005 rapid antigen tests were performed and 95 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.36%)
  • Special Schools: 612 rapid antigen tests were performed and positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.49%)

Other

  • Homes of well-being: 1,559 rapid antigen tests were performed, 38 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 2.44%)
  • Closed structures: 2,219 rapid antigen tests were performed , 11 new cases were identified (positivity rate of 0.5%).
