Russia, following the developments since the invasion of Ukraine, will no longer participate in the Council of Europe, the Russian news agency TASS reported, citing a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry today.
The reason Russia goes out
The ministry adds in its statement that NATO and EU countries are undermining the European organisation that defends human rights, the rule of law and democracy.
In particular, the Russian agency TASS broadcasts that Moscow considers that "NATO and the European Union are undermining a European organization that is supposed to have been created for the protection of human rights and the promotion of legality and democracy".
