MPs TO BE SPRAYED WITH VODKA AND ROSE

Filenews 18 March 2022 - by Eleftheria Paizanos

MPs will have a distinctive smell of vodka, rose and herbs when they enter the Conference Centre where the parliamentary committees and the plenary meet due to the coronavirus. This is because at the entrance of the Centre a disinfectant gate was placed, built by students of the industrial design sector in collaboration with the mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and electronic applications and chemistry sectors of the Makarios III Technical and Vocational School of Education and Training in Nicosia.

In the next 3 months those who will enter and exit the Parliament, will pass through the disinfectant gate with the aim of reducing the microbiological load they carry when they are inside the building. The disinfectant gate operates with an electronic eye. When a person approaches the gate immediately catches a signal the pump which feeds the atomizers creates a cloud of liquid.

Members, guests, parliament workers and representatives of the media will pass through the smog and within three seconds the possible germs they will carry will be killed. According to a briefing sent by the school to the Parliament, the disinfection liquid used is vodka with 70% ABV with aromas of Cyprus (rose) and herb extract. Specifically, every time a person passes through the gate, 3 ml of liquid will be used, corresponding to a teaspoon. As the manufacturers claim, this particular cloud has a pleasant and distinctive scent which evaporates in 3 seconds. In fact, the various herbal extracts of Cyprus used in the disinfection fluid are being studied by various research laboratories abroad for their anti-microbiotic action and for the coronavirus. The disinfectant gate has been tested by the school's students and teachers.
