3,695 NEW CASES, FIVE DEATHS [4-8 March] - Tuesday 8 March

The Ministry of Health announces that between 4 and 8 March 2022 there were 5 deaths from Covid:

  • They concern:
    • Woman, aged 78, who died on March 4
    • Woman, aged 87, who died on March 7
    • Woman, aged 84, who died on March 8
    • Woman, aged 85, who died on March 8
    • Woman, aged 86, who died on March 8
  • Total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19: 883.
  • 120 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • 23 in serious condition (ICU: 1 out of snorkel/9 intubated, PPE: 13)
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 53.34%
  • 20 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 133,874 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 3,695 new cases were identified (total cases 338,517).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 2.76%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 4,396 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 304 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 6.92%

Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):

  • 129,478 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 3,391 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 2.62%

 Tracking:

  • 280 molecular tests were performed and 26 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 9.29%)
  • 625 rapid antigen tests were performed and 67 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 10.72%)

Private initiative:

  • 1,922 molecular tests were performed, 227 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 11.81%)
  • 70,165 rapid antigen tests were performed, 2,257 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 3.22%)

Through the programmes of the Ministry of Health, 59,313 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 1,134 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 20,327 rapid detection tests identified 764 positive cases (positivity rate 3.76%)

Education

  • Primary Education: 19,968 rapid antigen tests, 111 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.56%)
  • Secondary Education: 10,810 rapid screening tests identified 96 positive cases (positivity rate 0.89%)
  • Test-to-Stay: 3,968 rapid antigen tests were performed and 67 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.69%)
  • Special Schools: 684 rapid antigen tests were performed and positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.44%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 2,092 rapid antigen tests were performed, 25 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.2%)
  • Government Agencies: 839 rapid antigen tests were performed and positive case was identified (positivity rate 0.12%)
