In honour of International Women's Day, as well as its ten years of close friendship with Europa Donna, OPAP Cyprus announced the offer of new mammographic systems that ensure more favourable results in the diagnosis and prevention of breast cancer.
Opap Cyprus' new major contribution to the Ministry of Health, as well as the renewal of its support for Europa Donna Cyprus, was announced at a press conference on Tuesday, March 8, by the Ceo of the Company, Dimitris Aletraris. "OPAP Cyprus", said Mr. Aletraris, "having proven as a top priority in its social action, the health of our fellow human beings, is constantly strengthening the plans of the Ministry of Health, aiming at the modernization of the infrastructure and services of public health bodies".
Referring to the long-standing cooperation of OPAP Cyprus with Europa Donna, Mr. Aletraris recalled that it began in 2012 with the Epistetheus Friends program. "Ten years since then, ten years and since our decisive intervention with the offer to the Ministry of Health of the eight state-of-the-art mammographers, OPAP Cyprus has lovingly embraced every step of the Europa Donna because we want to win life together!" said Mr. Aletraris and assured that: "We will continue to stand by you, close to the women of Cyprus, because this is imposed by the need to support the substantial action of Europa Donna and the Ministry of Health, but also because this is dictated by the anthropocentric philosophy of OPAP Cyprus".
The General Director of the Ministry of Health, Christina Yiannaki, highlighted the importance of the new mammographic systems which, as she said, strengthen the programs of the Medical Physics Branch and will further contribute to the detection of cancer in early pre-clinical stages. Mrs. Yiannaki thanked OPAP Cyprus, both for its new offer and for its long-term support to the plans of the Ministry of Health and other organizations, such as Europa Donna.
The sincere and strong support of OPAP Cyprus favors the effective operation and efficiency of all Europa Donna programs for the benefit of tens of hundreds of women of our country, said the President of the Organization, Mary Perdiou, in her address. Mrs. Perdiou conveyed to Mr. Aletraris the thanks of all the women of Europa Donna for the creative support of the Company. This is expressed through a series of programs supported by OPAP Cyprus and presented by the Executive Director of Europa Donna, Marios Charalambides.
Step by step together, winning life is the strong message that Europa Donna and its volunteers commune to every woman of Cyprus who experiences breast cancer, seeking to offer psychological support and practical help, in an environment of warmth and understanding. At every step of this effort, OPAP Cyprus stands with love, contributing to the implementation of the basic programs and plans of Europa Donna.
The first step of life was taken in 2012 when OPAP Cyprus embraced the Europa Donna program "SupportZO", which aimed to respond to the ever-increasing needs of psychological and emotional support for women and families experiencing the problem of breast cancer.
Recognizing the need for all people of our country to be sensitized and realize the importance of breast cancer prevention, OPAP Cyprus also supported the "GnitiZO" program. OPAP Cyprus expressed this concern loudly and with the offer to the Ministry of Health of eight state-of-the-art mammographers in order to contribute effectively to the early diagnosis and prevention of breast cancer.
In 2018, Europa Donna added to its action the "Care" program, offering the possibility of physiotherapy to women and men who have experienced or are experiencing breast cancer. OPAP Cyprus took care of the effectiveness of this program as well.
From 2012 until today, Europa Donna and OPAP Cyprus continue to be close friends. This is also the name of the program, which offers women who have undergone surgery for breast cancer, the opportunity to have the first addition free of charge and the support of a specialized Breast Nurse.
At International Women's Day, where we honour every woman of Cyprus, every woman who claims with dignity the right to quality of life, OPAP Cyprus stood again with Europa Donna. With love, strength and sincerity!
