3,294 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS - Tuesday 15 March

The Ministry of Health announces that today, March 15, 2022:

  • 2 deaths reported
  • They concern:
    • Man, aged 92, who died on March 13
    • Man, aged 78, who died on March 15
  • Total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19: 904.
  • 108 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • 17 in serious condition (ICU: 0 out of breath/6 intubated, PPE: 11)
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 59.26%
  • 21 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 92,295 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 3,294 new cases were identified (total cases 360,078).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 3.57%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 3,699 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 383 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 10.35%

Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):

  • 88,596 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 2,911 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 3.29%

 Tracking:

  • 405 molecular tests were performed and 59 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 14.57%)
  • 726 rapid antigen tests were performed and 73 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 10.06%)

Private initiative:

  • 1,578 molecular tests were performed, 253 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 16.03%)
  • 35,004 rapid antigen tests were performed, 1,898 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 5.42%)

Through the health ministry's programmes, 53,592 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 1,013 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 14,419 rapid detection tests identified 623 positive cases (positivity rate 4.32%)

Education

  • Primary Education: 20,062 rapid antigen tests, 121 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.6%)
  • Secondary Education: 11,612 rapid screening tests identified 111 positive cases (positivity rate 0.96%)
  • Test-to-Stay: 4,432 rapid antigen tests were performed and 56 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.26%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 1,264 rapid antigen tests were performed, 19 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.5%)
  • Closed structures: 151 rapid antigen tests were performed, 4 new cases were identified (positivity rate of 2.65%).
  • Government Agencies: 926 rapid antigen tests were performed and positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.65%)
