Due to frost, all roads leading to Troodos are open only to vehicles with four-wheel drive or equipped with snow chains.
In the Troodos area there is dense fog while intermittently there is rainfall.
It is noted that the situation on the road network is changing due to the winter conditions that prevail. The public is urged, before its movements, to be informed about the situation on the road network, through the police announcements, as published on the informational website www.cypruspolicenews.com, in the category Road Network, in the Police's social media accounts on Twitter and Facebook, as well as in the application – Application – "Cyprus Police".
The weather forecast
Weak low pressure affects the area. Intermittently, sparse dust will hover in the atmosphere.
Today the weather will be partly cloudy and isolated rains are likely to fall, mainly in the west and south, while on the highest peaks of Troodos light snow or sleet is likely to fall. The temperature will rise to around 16 degrees in the interior, north and east coasts, around 19 degrees in the rest of the coast and 6 degrees in the higher mountains.
In the evening the weather will be partly cloudy. The temperature will drop to 5 degrees in the interior, around 9 degrees in the north and west coasts, around 11 degrees in the rest of the coast and 2 degrees in the higher mountains, where locally frost will form.
On Thursday the weather will be mostly cloudy and local rain, isolated thunderstorms and snow are expected in the higher mountains, mainly from midday onwards.
On Friday the weather will initially be mostly cloudy with local rains, isolated thunderstorms and snow in the higher mountains, but gradually by the evening the weather will improve.
On Saturday the weather will be mostly clear but temporarily there will be increased cloudiness.
The temperature will not change significantly on Thursday. A slight drop is expected on Friday, while a slight rise is expected on Saturday to hover near the climate averages.
The height of the snow in Troodos Square, at the time of issue of the bulletin, was 76 centimetres.
