The average amount of rainfall that fell in the free areas from 1 January to the morning of January 31 rose to 156% of the normal for January 156, according to preliminary data released Monday by the Department of Meteorology.
According to the data, the average total amount of rainfall from the 1st to the morning of January 31, 2022 amounted to 159.4 mm, compared to 102.4 mm, which is the normal rainfall for the month of January.
Specifically, the largest amount of rainfall during the same period occurred in Pano Panagia where 141.8 mm more rainfall fell, compared to the normal one for the month of January, reaching a total of 294.9 mm, which corresponds to 193% of the normal one.
Also, a large percentage of rainfall compared to normal rainfall occurred in January in Kornos with 190% (166.4 mm), in Athienou with 183% (102.0 mm) and in Polis Chrysochou with 164% (160.1 mm).
In addition, the second largest amount of rainfall, apart from Pano Panagia, was recorded in Prodromos with 268.4 mm (139% of normal), Stavros tis Tsokas with 243.4 mm (146% of normal) and Saita with 222.7 mm (153% of normal).
On the contrary, according to the preliminary data of the Department of Meteorology, the smallest amount of rainfall during the period 1st to 31st January 2022 was recorded in Nicosia (Athalassa area) with 66.6 mm (139% of normal), in Frenaros with 81.4 mm (134% of normal) and in Xylotymbou with 92.4 mm (156% of normal).
