1,935 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH - Thursday 24 February

The Ministry of Health announces that today, February 24, 2022, one person has died due to Covid-19, while 1,935 are the new cases.

Specifically:

  • 1 death was announced.
  • It concerns an 86-year-old man who died on February 23.
  • Total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19: 834.
  • 167 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC.
  • 37 in serious condition (ICU: 1 off ventilator/15 intubated, PPE: 21).
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 59.29%.
  • 23 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized. intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 110,229 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 1,935 new cases were identified (total cases 315,341).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 1.76%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 7,085 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 289 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 4.08%
  • Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):
  • 103,144 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • 1,646 positive cases occurred
  • Positivity rate 1.6%

 Tracking:

  • 376 molecular tests were performed and 36 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 9.57%)
  • 745 rapid antigen tests were performed and 59 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 7.92%)

Private initiative:

  • 1,935 molecular tests were performed, 203 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 10.49%)
  • 47,076 rapid antigen tests were performed, 1,023 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 2.17%)

Through the programmes of the Ministry of Health, 56,068 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 623 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 17,663 rapid detection tests identified 364 positive cases (positivity rate 2.06%)

Education

  • Primary Education: 20,699 rapid antigen tests, 96 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.46%)
  • Secondary Education: 9,517 rapid screening tests identified 47 positive cases (positivity rate 0.49%)
  • Test-to-Stay: 4,414 rapid antigen tests were performed and 38 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.86%)
  • Special Schools: 666 rapid antigen tests were performed and positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.9%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 1,058 rapid antigen tests were performed, 8 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.76%)
  • Closed structures: 261 rapid antigen tests were performed, new cases were identified (positivity rate 1.15%).
  • Government Agencies: 1,045 rapid antigen tests were performed and positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.19%)
