GEROSKIPOU - NOW THEY STEAL FROM GRAVES AT THE CEMETERY

Filenews 25 February 2022 - by Dora Christodoulou

Flowers, pots and other mementos that the familiar deceased place on the graves of their loved ones, become lately prey to the unconscious who steal them. This is denounced by the former Deputy Mayor of Geroskipou, Marios Athanasiou Papis, who stresses that the extent of this unacceptable phenomenon is such that it requires the extraordinary convening of the Municipal Council of Geroskipou to take immediate measures.

Mr. Papis complains that the thieves of the Geroskipou cemetery choose the best flowers and pots from graves, showing complete disrespect to the relatives of the dead who are obliged every day to be faced with such sacrilege, in addition to the pain they are already experiencing for their loss.

" It doesn't go any further, measures need to be taken. Let the Police and the Local Authority take over", he points out. " It is a matter of perception and respect towards every family. I call on the Mayor and the Municipal Council of Geroskipou along with the Police to intervene, to place cameras and to stop being mere spectators.
