THEY RE-ENGAGE CYPRUS IN THE PIMPING RING

Filenews 26 January 2022 - by Michalis Hadjivasilis

The Greek media are coming back on the issue of Cyprus' alleged involvement in a ring that sends young women to participate in a party, an issue that is being investigated by the Greek Police and may at some point ask for the cooperation of the Cypriot authorities.

As The Real News wrote in Greece, there are messages exchanged by members of the circuit, which has connections in the field of night 'activities' and with affluent customers. The men of the Hellenic Police have already begun to gather evidence and are stepping up their actions following the prosecutor's order for a preliminary investigation. Based on the indications so far, as recorded, they estimate that there is a circuit that has spread its tentacles in Athens, Thessaloniki, Mykonos, Cyprus and Dubai. For this reason, the Hellenic Police, through Interpol, will cooperate with the authorities of Cyprus, but also with the police services of other countries, where the traces of the same members of the circuit are evident.

In fact, in the cosmopolitan emirate, which is visited by the international jet set, this circuit is said to have a strong presence, with the long-term lease of at least three suites. There, in the luxury hotels of Dubai, there are said to be organised parties, in the presence of young women coming from Greece and other European countries. A stopover in the women's journey to the Arabian Peninsula seems to be Cyprus. As it is emphasized, before going to Dubai, the girls, at the suggestion of the members of the circuit, participate in similar parties in Cyprus, especially during the summer months.

Meanwhile, even yesterday, Elias Gionis failed to send evidence of his allegations of Cyprus' involvement in a circuit, with the authorities now considering that he will not do so. Nor did he respond, according to information provided by "F", to the messages sent to him on his mobile phone by police officers from Cyprus.

As police spokesman Christos Andreou told "F" yesterday, the authorities here are ready to investigate any information or evidence that comes into their possession, related to any rape and sexual exploitation ring. As he clarified, the Police do not expect from a second person evidence of the possible involvement of our country in the circuit, but is on line with the Hellenic Police for information in case evidence emerges.

Moreover, as reported by the ANA-MPA, in the hands of a prosecutor is the complaint about the alleged action of a pimping ring presented to the judicial authorities of Thessaloniki by the criminologist Nikos Dialynas, citing evidence that came to his knowledge from a woman-complainant. The director of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Court of First Instance of Thessaloniki, Panagiotis Panagiotopoulos, ordered a prosecutor of first instance to investigate the allegations as a matter of urgency and to establish their merits. It is noted that Nikos Dialynas provided evidence, referring to a pimping circuit, consisting of three groups, which operates focusing on Thessaloniki.
