SLIPPY ROAD - DRIVERS BEWARE

Snowfall prevails in several areas of Cyprus, with the Police warning drivers that due to weather conditions, various roads have been closed.

Roads in the mountains of Nicosia district are closed due to snowfall, while roads in the higher mountains of Troodos are open only for vehicles with four-wheel drive or equipped with snow chains.

Landslides of volumes of soil and stones have occurred at points on the road Gerasa-Kalo Chorio.

Closed to all vehicles are specifically the roads from Palaichori-Agros, Aska-Fterikoudi, Farmaka-Apliki, Lagoudera-Saranti, Lagoudera-Polystypos, Lagoudera-Hadria, Lagoudera-Xyliatos, the road from Gouri-Machairas, and the roads from Pedoulas-Prodromos, Pedoulas-Pinewood-Kakopetria, Kakopetria-Karvounia and Kakopetria-Spilia-Kannavia.

Open only for vehicles with four-wheel drive or equipped with anti-skid chains are the roads from Klirou-Fikardou, Kalo Chorio-Gourri, Pedoulas-Kykkos-Kampos and Orkonta-Kampos, as well as the roads Karvounas-Troodos, Platres-Troodos and Prodromos-Troodos.

In the wider Troodos network, from the height of the semi-mountainous villages of Moniatis, Pera Pedi, Kalo Chorio, Louvaras, Saittas and Karvounias, up to the highest mountains, all roads are open only for vehicles with four-wheel drive or equipped with snow chains.

Dangerously slippery due to frost, but open to all vehicles, are the roads from Lefkara-Vavatsinia and Vavatsinia-Machairas.
