Filenews 19 January 2022
Changes are coming from March 1st for the epidemiological map of the countries and for the prerequisites for entering the country from airports.
Specifically, with today's decision, the Council of Ministers approved the new Action Plan for the smooth operation of flights and the operation of airports. The Action Plan was submitted to the Council of Ministers by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, following a decision of the Interministerial Committee set up to evaluate the measures in force in each case in relation to the epidemiological data of the period.
It is noted that the existing measures applied at Larnaka and Paphos Airports will remain in force until 28 February 2022.
The new Action Plan will enter into force on 1 March 2022 and briefly includes the following amendments:
1. As of March 1, the categorization of states based on their epidemiological risk is differentiated and will include three categories with the following colour code: Green, Red and Grey Category.
2. Vaccinated or recovered passengers, regardless of nationality and country of departure, shall be exempted from the obligations to produce a negative result of a laboratory test, self-isolation or quarantine or issue of a special permit. It is understood that these persons should hold a valid certificate of vaccination or recovery. In relation to the recovery certificates, European or equivalent certificates from other countries that are related to the European Digital Certificate and are connected are accepted.
3. For travel purposes, passengers, aged 18 years and over, should have received both the 3rd vaccine booster dose in case of a two-dose vaccine or the 2nd dose in the case of a single-dose vaccine.
4. For travel purposes, vaccination certificates for passengers, aged 18 years and over, who have received two doses of a two-dose vaccine or a dose of monododosic vaccine, shall be accepted only if no period of 9 months has elapsed since the date of administration of the 2nd dose in the case of a two-dose vaccine or one dose in the case of a single-dose vaccine, respectively.
5. For travel purposes, passengers, aged 18 years and under, shall be deemed to have completed their vaccination regimen if they have received the 2nd dose in the case of a two-dose vaccine or one dose in the case of a single-dose vaccine.
6. Passengers who have not been vaccinated or do not hold a valid vaccination or recovery certificate, regardless of nationality, will be able to enter the Republic of Cyprus from any state of departure only if they meet the requirements of the corresponding category, in which the state from which they are travelling has been registered (e.g. presentation of a negative result of a laboratory test, self-quarantine/ quarantine, issuance of a special permit, etc).
