One death from COVID-19 was announced today, bringing the total number of deaths to 713.
221 patients COVID-19 are hospitalized, of which 75 are in serious condition. 70.59% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
22 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases) continue to be hospitalized intubated in serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.
2,815 (positivity rate: 2.16%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified from 130,466 molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 238,773.
It is worth noting that among other things, 38 cases of Covid were detected in nursing homes and 194 in schools.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The 1 death announced with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concerns:
- Woman, aged 87, who died on January 24th at the Limassol General Hospital.
As a result, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 713, of which:
- 447 men (62.7%), and
- 266 women (37.3%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 76.1 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 221 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 75 are in serious condition or in conditions of PPE.
Of the 75 patients who are in serious condition, 30 are intubated, 4 are hospitalized in an Intensive Care Unit off the ventilator and 41 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 130,466 diagnoses performed, 7,788 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 122,678 by the antigen rapid test, 2,815 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 35 cases from 467 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 52 cases from 3,573 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 278 cases out of 3,034 samples were taken through a private initiative.
- 30 cases from 335 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1,608 cases from 68,691 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 808 cases from 53,987 samples examined by the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health's program.
- 4 cases from379 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
