No deaths were recorded due to coronavirus today, while according to the Ministry of Health, 2,226 cases were identified in the last 24 hours.
Specifically:
- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 689.
- 248 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 92 are in serious condition. 73.39% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
- 17 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.
- A total of 95,650 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 2,226 (positivity rate: 2.33%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 233,082.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 689, of which:
- 434 men (63%), and
- 255 women (37%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.1 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 248 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 92 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 92 patients who are in serious condition, 35 are intubated, 5 are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 52 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 95,650 diagnoses performed, 6,732 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 88,918 by the antigen rapid test, 2226 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 61 cases from 1,007 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 35 cases from 1,376 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 329 cases from 3,895 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 24 cases from 318 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 985 cases from 50,222 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 792 cases from 38,696 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 0 cases from 135 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
- 0 cases from 1 sample taken as part of checks in closed facilities.
