The new epidemiological data of the last 14 days are published by the Ministry of Health.
According to the latest epidemiological data, the cumulative incidence of 14 days of COVID-19 (diagnosed cases of 14 days per 100,000 inhabitants) has increased, as it is 906, compared to 752.8 in the previous 14 days.
However, the tests are also increased, carried out, since, as reported by the Ministry of Health, in the last 14 days 143,562 molecular tests have been performed, compared to 108,513 molecular tests (PCRs) performed in the previous 14 days and 1,055,829 antigen rapid tests (118,899.7 per 100,000 population) compared to 1,022,002, which had been performed in the previous 14 days.

As of December 20, 2021, 144,311 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the Republic of Cyprus, with 625 deaths due to COVID-19 (COVID-19 mortality: 0.4%).

• In the last 14 days (7 - 20 December 2021) 8,045 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded: The median age of COVID-19 cases was 31 years (Intraquartile range: 16 - 44 years), 50.3% concerns women (n = 4,047), 49.6% in men (n = 3,988), while for 10 cases (0.1%) there was currently no information available.
Based on the epidemiological history, 5.6% (n=441) were cases with a recent travel history, while 94.4% (n=7,490) are cases of domestic transmission – out of 7,931 cases (98.6%) with the relevant information available.

• As of December 22, 2021, 176 people with COVID-19 (diagnosed until December 20) were hospitalized (based on registered data and including those discharged, transferred or deceased on that day). Their median age was 64 years (Intraquartile range: 52 – 75 years), with 54% (n =95) being for men and 36.3% (n=62) people from Nicosia district (from 171 people with available relevant information).
In total, 73 (55.3%) people with COVID19 who were hospitalized reported underlying diseases (out of 132 people with the relevant information available).
• According to the registered data, on December 22, 2021, 21 people (diagnosed until December 20) were in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – and 21 people (100%) were intubated. The median age of COVID-19 patients in ICU was 62 years (Intraquartile range: 53- Epidemiological data are subject to change due to the rapidly evolving situation of 3 65 years), while 18 cases (85.7%) concern men.
Seven (53.9%) people hospitalized in ICU reported underlying diseases (out of 13 people with the relevant information available).
