The new data on the deaths caused by the Covid disease in the last 14 days is released by the Ministry of Health.
As reported, in the current month (until December 22, 2021), the number of deaths has increased by 114% compared to the deaths of November 2021.
Here's the data summary:
• The period of analysis of the data is from March 2020 to December 22, 2021.
• As of December 22, 2021, 718 deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19 have been reported to the Health Monitoring Unit of the Ministry of Health. 64% are men (n=461 deaths) and the remaining 36% are women (n=257 deaths).
• Of the 718 deaths, 625 (87%) had an underlying cause of COVID-19. • 64% of the total number of deaths with the underlying cause of COVID-19, concerns men (n = 399 deaths) and the remaining 36% concerns women (n = 226 deaths).
• 50% of the total number of deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19 are people aged 69-85 years, with a median age of death of 77 years and an average age of 75.9 years. • The total number of deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19, during the month of August 2021 (n=95), exceeded the number of deaths of December 2020 (n=90) and January 2021 (n=86). Since the beginning of the pandemic, the rate for the three months with the highest numbers has reached 38% of the total number of deaths. It is followed by April 2021 with a percentage of 9% (n=66), May 2021 with a percentage of 8% (n=59) and July with a percentage of 7% (n=49).
• In the current month (until December 22, 2021), the number of deaths has increased by 114% compared to the deaths of November 2021.
• The highest percentage of deaths of people positive with COVID-19, with the underlying cause of death the COVID-19 disease, concerns people with permanent residence in the Limassol District (n = 217, 35%). They are followed by the Nicosia District (n=194, 31%), the District of Larnaca (n=115, 18%), the District of Pafos (n=55, 9%), the District of Famagusta (n=35, 6%), 6 deaths have an undefined District of permanent residence (1%) and 3 deaths concern residents abroad.
• Limassol is presented with the highest mortality rate per 100000 population (87.2 deaths per 100000 population). It is followed by Larnaca with 76.2 deaths, Famagusta with 71.5 deaths, Nicosia with 56.1 deaths and finally Paphos with 58.6 deaths per 100000 population.
