The effort of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and the Pafos Etap to promote the gorges of the Akamas peninsula is now taking a practical form. In this context, the first on-site visit to four gorges of the community of Alodon has already taken place recently.
The team that participated in the tour consisted of executives of the Pafos ETAP, an officer of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, external associates of the HTAP on issues of walking routes and the Commune of Pano Aros. Within the framework of the visit, the people involved were given the opportunity to pass through the gorges of Kraminos, Irini, Dipotamos and Koufon and to live the experience of the occult world of the gorges first hand, as well as to exchange views and suggestions for their possible exploitation and integration into the tourist product of the province.
As it transpired, the area has to offer something very unique and under certain conditions, several points from the gorges and the wider area could be integrated into the tourist experience and become another important attraction mainly for walkers and nature lovers, locals and foreigners.
The Pafos ETAP plans in the near future to record practical recommendations and proceed to preliminary planning, while, subsequently, it will request the involvement and cooperation of the Department of Forests and other involved services for a more detailed examination of the whole issue.
The area of Laona-Akamas has to offer unique experiences and there is a great effort made in recent years to highlight its special characteristics, upgrade the existing infrastructure and enrich the offered experiences, says a relevant announcement of the Etap.
