The green light was lit by the environmental authority for the construction of a linear park in the municipal boundaries of Pegeia. The proposed development aims at attracting visitors and providing recreational activities, as well as improving the quality of life of the residents and at the same time beautifying the area.
The Municipality of Pegeia, in addition to the construction and operation of the Linear Park, will proceed to the restoration of the historic bridge "exakamaro" by removing the cylindrical culverts and replacing them with four (4) additional arches with the aim of restoring the historic bridge to its original form.
The proposed project is located on state land, within the registered boundaries of the riverbed "Xeropotamos" and in accordance with the Unified Water Management Law of 2010, the competent authority for the management of these areas is the Water Development Department (WDD).
Based on the architectural plans of the proposed linear park, it has a total area of 15310 sq.m., which among others will include two parking spaces (one of which will have 43 spaces and the second 12 parking spaces), a reception area with a living room, toilets, a geological park, an archery centre, a game area, a "skate park", as well as green areas.
