The installation of warning signs for the existence of fixed and mobile cameras, as well as for the speed limit, was agreed at the meeting between the Ministers of Justice, Transport, Research, the Chief of Police and representatives of the services involved.
At the heart of the debate was the new photo-labelling system for traffic offences, which has been operational in recent weeks.
The meeting highlighted the fact that the new photo-labelling system is part of the effort to minimize violations, improve road safety and reduce road collisions.
In the discussion on specific points, it was agreed to place warning signs on visible points for the existence of fixed and mobile cameras, but also for the speed limit.
In addition, the methods of selecting the locations of fixed cameras, which are located in black spots, which were determined on the basis of statistical surveys, were analyzed.
At the same time, the need for traffic lights at intersections that allow turning right to be properly marked was underlined. Finally, the need for valid and timely information to citizens on how the new system works was re-emphasised.
At the heart of the debate was the examination of the extent to which technology is used to automate the procedures for issuing extrajudicial infringements and to promote the immediate payment of debts through online systems.
Finally, the recommendations from the various services have been recorded and the Ministry in cooperation with the competent bodies will closely monitor the issue for the implementation of the decisions.
