133 NEW CASES, SUNDAY

The Ministry of Health announces that today, November 7, 2021, no deaths of patients with a final cause of death of COVID-19 were recorded, while 133 are the new cases of the disease.

Specifically:

  • No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, covid-19, so the total number of deaths remains 576.

  • 69 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 23 are in serious condition. 66.18% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
  • 1 post-COVID patient who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.

  • A total of 39,447 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

  • 133 (positivity rate: 0.34%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 125,947.

Today's results are detailed.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 576, of which:

  • 368 men (64%), and
  • 208 women (36%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.1 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 69 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 23 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 23 patients who are in serious condition, seven are intubated, two are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 14 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 39,447 diagnoses performed, 3,286 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 36,161 by the antigen rapid test method, 133 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 11 cases from 185 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 2 cases from 1,687 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 16 cases from 997 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 1 case from 308 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 37 cases from 16,000 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 66 cases from 20,161 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 109 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
