The fire that broke out earlier in the Tala area in the Pafos district was brought under control.
According to Fire Department spokesman Andreas Kettis, the fire burned a total of eight hectares of dry grass and wild vegetation, as well as a number of trees.
He also noted that the firefighting forces continue with final extinguishing, demarcation of the fire and dealing with any resurgents.
The causes of the fire are being investigated.
Earlier, dense black smoke covered from 4.00 in the afternoon much of the western low area of Paphos, due to a fire that broke out in a rural area of Kissonerga.
The fire due to the dense vegetation had taken on great dimensions, causing concern at the sight of the dense smoke from a great distance, as well as the strong smell that is felt almost throughout the low area between Paphos and Kissonerga, as well as further north, towards Tala.
