The Ministry of Health on Friday announced 142 new cases of COVID-19 out of a total of 53,801 screening tests and 56 hospitalized, with the positivity rate standing at 0.26%. The number of deaths remains 559 and cases rise to 122,137.
Of the 56 COVID-19 patients hospitalized, 24 are in serious condition. 64.41% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
According to the competent Ministry, 9 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
Meanwhile, a total of 53,801 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 559, of which:
- 354 men (63%), and
- 205 women (37%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.2 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 56 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 24 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 24 patients who are in serious condition, 10 are intubated in an Intensive Care Unit and 14 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 53,801 diagnoses performed, 5,070 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 48,731 by the antigen rapid test method, 142 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 25 cases from 402 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 7 cases from 2,682 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 29 cases from 1,594 samples taken through private initiative.
- 3 cases from 224 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 54 cases from 29,218 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 24 cases from 19,513 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 168 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
