THIRD VACCINE IS VOLUNTARY - SAFEPASS IS NOT AFFECTED

 Filenews 3 September 2021

The third dose is voluntary and will have no impact on anyone who does not do it either on SafePass or on his GreenPass, said the Minister of Health, Michalis Chatzipandelas, saying that in the morning he visited a nursing home in Agioi Omologites where the elderly made the third dose against Covid-19. It's their personal choice, he added.

In response to questions after the press conference on the results of a survey on society's attitude towards vaccination, Mr. Chatzipandelas said that the Ministry is working on whether to start and how, vaccination in other age groups, except the elderly, and announcements will be made in the coming days.

Forged certificates and doctors

In order for the PIS to impose penalties on doctors, the legislative framework must be changed and this is what they saw a few weeks ago in the Legal Service, Mr. Chatzipandelas said in response to a question about the impact on doctors who give false certificates. "We are waiting for the recommendations of the PIS to be approved by the Parliament," he noted.

On disciplinary penalties, the Minister of Health said that other bodies in the health sector, such as pharmacists, do not have such penalties. He spoke of complaints from patients who were not served by pharmacies "for reasons that are impermissible," he said, saying that "those professionals who have licenses from the state, too, must be held accountable in some way."

The aim with the Legal Service, he continued, is to have severe penalties and to impose them on all professionals who break the law.

Asked afterwards he said that one complaint concerned a pharmacy that did not serve a patient because the mixture of 2 drugs he wanted was not profitable enough and he had to go to 4 pharmacies to be served. The incident, he said, was conveyed by himself to the President of the Association of Pharmacists.

Metropolitan of Morfou

Metropolitan Morfou's statements do damage, the Minister of Health said, saying that "there is no thanks to the Metropolitans, something we have not had in recent years".

Under the guidance of the Attorney General, he added, the former Metropolitan of Kition has been taken to court and for Metropolitan Morphou George Savvidis informed him that "the laws will be applied, as they apply to all citizens of the Republic of Cyprus".
