The full dossier was recently submitted to the Council of Europe on the certification and registration of the cultural/religious route "In the footsteps of Apostle Paul, Apostle of Nations."
Through a process that took more than two years in the context of the Cult RÍnG interregional cooperation project, the project partners, the Paphos Tourism Development and Promotion Company (EFF), the Region of Central Macedonia, the Lazio-Italy region and the ECTN (European Network of Cultural Tourism) are now officially claiming certification and registration of this route in the European Routes of the Council of Europe.
Cultural Routes are powerful tools for promoting and maintaining the common and different cultural identities of the European Union. Cultural Routes provide a better understanding of Europe's history through the interregional exchange of ideas and cultures.
"As an EFF we continue and strengthen the effort to create and support actions in the field of culture," says a statement. According to the EFF, with the approval of the route Paphos and Cyprus in general is established in the European Charter of Cultural Routes and is expected to reap various benefits such as visibility and awareness, enrichment of the tourist experience, contribution to the maintenance and protection of points of interest, benefits to the local community and economy, etc.
"For the whole province of Paphos, culture is a strong competitive advantage, so operators place particular emphasis on this area," he added. The effort focuses on further protection and the introduction of technological tools for the promotion of cultural wealth.
