446 NEW CASES, THREE DEATHS - Monday

Three people died due to coronavirus, while the Ministry of Health announced another 446 new cases of the virus.

Specifically:

  • Three people died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 444.
  • 278 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 98 are in serious condition. 88.13% of nurses have no history of vaccination.
  • A total of 42,427 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 446 (positivity rate: 1.05%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 106,428.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The three people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

  • Man, aged 72, who ended up on August 8 at Famagusta General Hospital.
  • Woman, aged 85, who ended up today at Limassol General Hospital.
  • Male, aged 61, who ended up today in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 444, of which:

  • 290 men (65%), and
  • 154 women (35%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.1 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 278 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospitals, 98 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 98 patients in serious condition, 50 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 46 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 42,427 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,961 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 35,466 using the antigen rapid test, 446 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 25 cases from 137 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 8 cases from 3,757 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 91 cases from 2,728 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 18 cases from 275 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 5 cases from 64 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through Public Health Clinics.
  • 197 cases from 20,772 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 102 cases from 14,694 samples examined using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
